‘Nobody should be fearful of who they are’: Andrea Jenkyns says treatment of Jewish students in Leeds left her in tears
Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns admits she got emotional when talking to Jewish students at the University of Leeds who have been hounded by pro-Palestine demonstrators.
Security has been stepped up at the university after its Jewish chaplain was threatened and a building for Jewish students was vandalised with ‘Free Palestine’ graffiti.
Speaking on The Camilla Tominey Show on GB News, Jenkyns admitted that speaking to Jewish students about their experiences left her in tears as she blasted the surge of ‘far-left’ extremism which she claims is prominent in all institutions.
“It’s horrific. I cried when I was speaking to them [Jewish students]”, she said.
“In the main building, they’ve been putting up Palestinian flags and students have been chanting ‘From the River to the Sea’ to Jewish pupils.
“They’re saying this has not been reported to the police because staff ‘do not want to give the university a bad name’.
“Nobody in life should be fearful to be who they are.”
Leeds University leaders said they are ‘actively supporting’ West Yorkshire Police and the Union of Jewish Students as investigations into the incidents are carried out.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
- Trans healthcare workers admitted some patients too young for treatment in leaked messages
- Tesco rolls out new menopause section at 200 stores for 'first time ever'
- 'Can't believe a medical organisation would say this!' Nana Akua blasts trans breast milk 'rubbish!'

In a statement, a spokesperson for the university said: "We totally condemn the antisemitic abuse and threats directed towards the chaplain and his family.
"Such attacks on any individual are unacceptable and will not be tolerated from members of the public or our university community.
"The university has detailed measures in place to safeguard our students and is further stepping up activity relating to both security and wellbeing."
Asked how the University of Leeds and wider society can tackle the issue of pro-Palestine demonstrators prompting discomfort for Jewish people, Jenkyns said ‘don’t put flags up full stop, unless it’s the British one’.
She added “they should seriously think of disciplining people if they aren’t behaving in a decent way”.
Jenkyns believes the issues in Leeds are reflective of a rise of ‘far-left extremism’.
The Tory MP went as far as to argue that the trend is prevalent in public institutions such as the Civil Service.
“I think it’s in every situation”, she said.
“We see it in the Civil Service, we’ve seen it in the Home Office where they tried to boycott the Rwanda Bill.”

Nicola Sturgeon's sister posted about Kate's cancer on social media 25 minutes BEFORE the princess made the announcement
Nicola Sturgeon's sister posted about Kate's cancer on social media 25 minutes before the princess made the announcement.
Gillian Sturgeon posted on Facebook at 5.35pm yesterday evening, before deleting the post shortly after receiving backlash.
She wrote: "Get well soon Princess Kate. After this awful news I hope the media leave her in peace to recover."
Sturgeon was asked whether her older sister, the former First Minister of Scotland - who is still on the Privy Council - had told her about the cancer.

She denied the accusation, replying to the comment: "My sister and I haven’t spoken in 3 days. I read online. Stop using someone’s Illness to try to troll. Sad person you are."
Another social media user commented: "Some stooshie you've caused. Your poor sis getting it tight...."
Gillian replied: "I've done nothing wrong. Neither has she. I read something online but Ofcourse people want to believe the other."
The Privy Council serves as an important link between the executive powers of ministers and the constitutional authority of the sovereign and has existed since the 13th century.
After deleting the post, Gillian made another post, explaining that her original post had been deleted.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
- What's next for Kate after announcing her cancer diagnosis?
- Owen Jones and conspiracy theorists begin to apologise to Kate
- Biden's press secretary slammed for calling Kate 'Duchess of Cambridge'

She wrote: "Goodnight trolls. Goodbye [waving hand emoji] also. Lots blocked. Post down - & no more explanations given. What I read online I have no control over."
An hour later she posted a selfie wearing a grey beanie, leopard print framed glasses and a beige jumper with black turtleneck underneath.
She captioned the image: "Never allow the opinions of others become your business. Be the LION [lion emoji] amongst SHEEP [sheep emoji]."
A couple of hours later she put up her latest post, explaining how she found out about Kate's cancer diagnosis, alongside a photo of the news being broken in the US well before the 6pm announcement.

She posted a picture of a tweet by NY Post journalist Kelly Jane Torrance that was published at 11.37am ET (3.37pm GMT).
Torrance - who has since deleted the tweet - wrote: "Kate Middleton has cancer and is going through chemo. Which is a big surprise, as the palace had said it wasn't cancer. Best wishes to one of the classiest of women."
Alongside a picture of the tweet, Gillian wrote: "Posted in NY at 1137. 1637 here. Just so all you conspiracy theorists know that it was out there.
"I read online. I did not 'hear' from someone that by the way …… I actually told !!!!! Said person was totally unaware Now jog on and stop using a young woman’s bad Health to point score and troll."

Biden's press secretary slammed for calling Kate 'Duchess of Cambridge'
Joe Biden's press secretary has been slammed for calling Kate the "Duchess of Cambridge", after hearing the news she had been diagnosed with cancer.
On Friday evening, the Princess of Wales released a video via Kensington Palace, where she announced she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer.
In January, Kate, 42, was hospitalised for 13 days after having planned abdominal surgery.
At the time, Kensington Palace reported that the princess's condition was noncancerous.

However, tests following the operation showed cancer was present, which Kate revealed in her statement on Friday evening.
Politicians from around the world immediately sent an outpouring of love and kind wishes to the Princess of Wales, including US President Joe Biden.
His press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, faced criticism for referring to Kate as the "Duchess of Cambridge", a title she has not officially used since Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.
When King Charles assumed the throne, he bestowed the Prince and Princess of Wales titles to Prince William and Kate.
After hearing the sad news that Kate had been diagnosed with cancer, Jean-Pierre said in a statement: "We've just heard, obviously all of us just heard the terrible news.

"Our thoughts are with the Duchess of Cambridge and her family members and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
"And certainly we wish her a full recovery and think it's important that we respect their privacy, especially at this time, so I'm not going to go further than that.
"And obviously we wish the Duchess of Cambridge a full recovery. It is incredibly sad to hear this news."
One royal fan commented: "Duchess of Cambridge? Are you serious?"
Another said: "She is the Princess of Wales! Can you not get anything right?"

A third posted: "I cannot believe how ill-informed and uneducated the White House press officer is.
"HRH The Princess of Wales has not been referred to as The Duchess of Cambridge since The King created William, Prince of Wales, in September 2022."
During Kate's address to the public, she said: "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."
The Princess of Wales continued: "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:

- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle break silence on Kate's cancer diagnosis
"But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.
"As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.
"Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both."
"We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.
"My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.
"At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."

‘Anti-British rhetoric is taking over this country – we must fight for our flag,’ writes Ben Habib

It is socially acceptable to champion the sovereignty of Ukraine but not that of our own country. We will bend over backwards to finance Zelensky, not even questioning his war aims, so he may defend his country. Yet at home, our intellectual and governing classes hold the United Kingdom virtually in contempt.
Will they defend our borders against those entering the country illegally? No. Do they care about the damage being done by multiculturalism? No. Do they promote and respect foreign cultures more than our own? Absolutely.
There is a large swathe of people in the United Kingdom who hate the United Kingdom.
Those of us who are proud of and love our country, are accused by them of being nationalist. If we speak in favour of reducing immigration we are accused of being xenophobic. If we wish national policy to be made with our interests in mind, we are accused of being far right.
The only thing which assuages their lust for damaging our country is an acceptance of all things anti-British.
To be socially acceptable we must peddle the lie that our forefathers were all slave traders and our wealth illegitimate. That our national heroes were racist. Churchill was not the saviour of the free world but a racist who turned his back on starving Bengalis.

Well, I reject all this for the lies that it is.
The United Kingdom may no longer be the greatest country on Earth but it is the best.
There is no country which gets close to matching us in just about any sphere you may care to mention. Our language, literature, scientific advancement, technological inventions, philosophical thought, political and legal systems, and military, to name a few have all led the World.
The World would be a much poorer place in all respects if it were not for the UK. Economically and culturally, our legacy for the World is huge.
MORE AGENDA-SETTING OPINION:- 'Sunak is almost certainly the most right-wing Conservative Prime Minister since Thatcher'
- 'Defence of the realm? We're too busy cosying up to the EU's defence plans'
- I embrace Sir James Dyson - he took just one bad-tempered meeting with Hunt to wipe the floor with him, says Kelvin MacKenzie

It is a mystery therefore how these people came to hate their own country and by implication themselves so much. They are gripped by a loathing which will not be shifted by reason or debate. They desire the end of the United Kingdom.
Go abroad and virtually without exception the people of the countries you visit will rightly speak proudly of their country. Their flags will liberally adorn buildings and public places.
But in the UK, if you wear a Union flag on your lapel, as I often do, people look at you quizzically. I can see the contempt in their eyes. By that one act alone they pigeonhole me as a right-wing, nationalist, populist.
To them, I say this: it is indeed right to be nationalist and appeal to the populace. That is the essence of belief in your country and the promotion of its and its people’s interests.
No amount of them seeking to undermine my love of Britain will make a difference to me.
Thankfully, I am not alone. The silent majority are in lockstep. They want their country back.
They voted for Brexit to get their country back. The elite stood in the way. They have frustrated the will of the people. We remain subject to Brussels’s jackboot.
But here is another famous quality of being British: dogged stubbornness.
We will not give up the fight for our country. It may seem like we have been on the beaches of Dunkirk for years but fight on we will.
And in that fight, we will be buoyed by one thing more than any other. A belief in and a love of our flag.
Rule Britannia.

Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer break silence on Kate's cancer diagnosis - 'Princess has love and support of the whole country'
The Prime Minister and Labour leader, Keir Starmer have shared their well wishes for Princess Kate after she revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
Rishi Sunak wrote online that the royal has the "love and support of the whole country".
He added that Kate has "shown tremendous bravery" and wished her "a speedy recovery".
The Princess of Wales confirmed she is undergoing chemotherapy but did not say which type of cancer she has been diagnosed with.

Sunak wrote: "My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales, Prince of Wales, the Royal Family and in particular her three children at this difficult time. The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the whole country as she continues her recovery.
"She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement today. In recent weeks she has been subjected to intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media.
"When it comes to matters of health, like everyone else, she must be afforded the privacy to focus on her treatment and be with her loving family.
"I know I speak for the whole country in wishing her a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back in action when she’s ready."

- Kate wants George, Charlotte and Louis to 'know she will be ok' in heartbreaking cancer admission

Starmer added that his "thoughts are with the whole Royal Family as they come to terms with the news".
He wrote: "On behalf of the whole Labour Party, I want to send my very best wishes to Her Royal Highness at this distressing time.
"Our thoughts are with the whole Royal Family as they come to terms with the news and as they support The Princess of Wales through her treatment and recovery.
"Any cancer diagnosis is shocking. But I can only imagine the added stress of receiving that news amid the lurid speculation we’ve seen in recent weeks.
"Their Royal Highnesses are entitled to privacy and, like any parents, will have waited to choose the right moment to tell their children.
"I am heartened by The Princess of Wales’ optimistic tone and her message of faith and hope. Her Royal Highness will be in our thoughts and prayers as she progresses through her treatment with the love and support of not just her whole family, but the whole nation too."
Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman also shared her best wishes for the Princess.
She wrote: "On behalf of the people of Fareham, I wish HRH The Princess of Wales a swift recovery as she undergoes treatment for cancer. Sending prayers and love."

Wales: Vaughan Gething confirms Cabinet team on first day as leader
Vaughan Gething has appointed his top team of Cabinet ministers, less than 24 hours after being sworn into Wales’ highest office,
The First Minister says the “Ministerial team will answer the call of the generation in waiting, to create a stronger, fairer, greener Wales.”
Jeremy Miles, who Gething defeated in the leadership race, has taken over Gething’s former role as Economy Minister and will also oversee the Welsh language brief.
Eluned Morgan is staying on as Health Minister - seen as the most difficult job of all, as Wales grapples with the largest waiting times since records began.

Lynne Neagle has bagged a promotion as the new Education Minister. Neagle faces a fresh challenge as Education Minister following an IFS study released today detailing how Pupils in Wales perform only as well as disadvantaged children in England.
Lesley Griffiths, who previously had the rural affairs brief and faced backlash from farmers across Wales over proposed subsidy plans, has been moved to Culture and Social Justice Secretary.
Huw Irranca-Davies joins the front benches as Climate Change and Rural Affairs secretary, while Ken Skates makes a return to the top team as the secretary for north Wales and transport.

Gething says his cabinet will strengthen the Welsh economy “by providing opportunities for everyone and being steadfast in our commitment to a just transition to net zero. Our goal to deliver green prosperity is reflected by the creation of a new Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language.”
The Welsh Conservatives say this is a cabinet that will deliver “more of the same”.
“We had hoped that Vaughan would use the chance of a clean slate to scrap Labour’s vanity projects and focus on fixing our broken public services, but it’s clear that he has no intention of doing that.
“While Labour would rather continue to spend precious time, energy and resources putting more politicians in Cardiff Bay, the Welsh Conservatives will focus on the people’s priorities.”

'Very troubling': Tory MP Miriam Cates concerned by Reform UK surge
THE rise in support for Reform UK in recent opinion polls is “very troubling” for Conservatives, the MP Miriam Cates has said.
Asked about a new YouGov poll showing the Tories down to 19%, she told GB News: “Yes, of course I am worried. They are very troubling figures for Conservatives. In the first past the post system in a General Election, it doesn't quite work out like that.
“The Conservative vote will be spread differently to the Reform vote and, whilst the Reform vote may be enough to stop Conservatives winning particular seats, probably quite a lot of seats, the effect of it will be to allow in Labour MPs.
“That's what the Reform vote will do. But yes, of course it is worrying. And I think it shows very much that we need to be leaning into these issues of immigration that people are so concerned about, economic security, those kinds of issues that did win us the election in 2019 that Boris Johnson very much stood for.
“The only route back to victory for the Conservatives is to lean into those issues that voters so very much care about.”
In a discussion with Christopher Hope and Martin Daubney, she continued: “A lot of the polling for Reform stems from a frustration with the Conservatives, rather than necessarily a desire to see a Reform government, because I think we both we understand that under our current system, that's just not going to happen.”
She added: “The polling is very worrying for us. We are polling as low as we ever have. But there are also an extraordinary number of people who are saying they don't know and haven't decided, and for this point in the electoral cycle that is quite surprising.
“It means we've got an enormous job to do to win those voters back but what is significant is we're not seeing huge numbers of switches from Conservative to Labour, which shows I think that there's no real passion for a Keir Starmer government.
“While people might be upset with us, there's no real passion for Labour…we're not seeing such a rush back to Labour but nevertheless, it does show what an extraordinary job we have got to do to win back people's confidence, to win back that lent vote, if you like, again, and obviously Reform are very much picking up the votes of people who don't think we've done that yet.”

Are we about to see drastic changes to British abortion laws? - analysis by Olivia Utley

According to Justice Secretary Alex Chalk, the Government’s flagship “Criminal Justice Bill” was designed to beef up punishment for the most ruthless of criminals, empower the police and keep neighbourhoods safe.
But since it was first introduced to the House of Commons back in November, it has been through all sorts of unexpected iterations.
Various MPs and Peers from across the political spectrum have “hijacked” the Bill – mainly with attempts to push through changes to the Abortion Act via the back door.
It is often said in Britain, unlike in America, the question of abortion is “settled”. And it is true that there is very little appetite to make direct changes to the Abortion Act of 1967, given that doing so would open a culture war can of worms similar to the Roe v Wade question that has ripped apart America.

But of course, in the half-century or so since the Abortion Act was written, medicine, science and even the concept of criminality have all drastically changed. So it is perhaps little wonder that there are parliamentarians on both sides of the abortion debate who feel uncomfortable with the law as it stands.
There will likely be dozens of amendments to the Bill, but the three which will probably be voted on – and stand a chance of passing – are as follows.
1. Baroness Caroline Ansell has tabled an amendment which would lower the gestational age at which a woman can get an abortion from 24 weeks to 22 weeks. The logic behind the amendment, which is backed by a group of 25 cross party MPs, is that the 24-week abortion limit is now beyond the point when many babies survive and double that of the most common time limit among European Union countries.
These MPs also point out that it represents a contradiction at the heart of Britain’s abortion law: theoretically, in one room in a hospital a team of doctors could be working round the clock to save the life of a baby born at 23 weeks, while down the corridor, another team of doctors could be ending the life of a “foetus” of the same gestational age.
POLITICS LATEST:
- Rishi Sunak would win a confidence vote 'by a country mile' claims Esther McVey
- Lords inflict fresh defeat on Sunak's Rwanda plan as Bill set to be delayed for another MONTH
- Penny Mordaunt blasted by Esther McVey: 'She had her chance, she didn't win!'
2. Liam Fox, former minister, is attempting to abolish rules allowing abortions up to the point of birth for a foetus diagnosed with Down’s syndrome.
He says the change in the law would stop people with Down’s syndrome being treated as second-class citizens, a situation he described as an “absolutely utter travesty”.
This amendment has also been backed by MPs from all the main parties.
3. On the other side of the argument, Labour MP Diana Johnson has tabled an amendment which would stop anyone facing prosecution for ending their own pregnancy in England and Wales – essentially removing the issue of abortion from the criminal sphere.
Proponents of this amendment, including Health Secretary Victoria Atkins, argue that it is extremely unusual for anyone to end their pregnancy outside the law, but on the rare occasions when it does happen, it is distressing for everyone involved.
They suggest that women who do choose to end their pregnancy beyond the legal limit should not be treated as criminals, as often the situation is very complex. But those who have opposed the change argue that it would pave the way to legalising abortion up until birth, and could mean women in troubling circumstances end up waiting until the later stages of pregnancy to procure an abortion – when the procedure is less safe.
All three of these amendments will be debated when the Criminal Justice Bill returns to the House of Commons after the Easter recess. And it is very possible that all three pass. For the first time in decades, we could be about to see radical changes to British abortion law.

Those on the right should support the Tories rather than vote for any other party on the right which will allow Mr flip flop Starmer in, says Neil Parish
Would the return of Nigel Farage to front line Politics destroy the Tories? Simple answer no.
There is however a very large BUT. Nigel is charismatic and would attract many Tory voters who see the Conservative party as too woke and more like a socialist Government than a full blooded Tory party.
With the huge borrowing of £430billion to bail out population out through Covid and another £50bn on energy support out Tory Government has borrowed more than and socialist Government.
Now I would argue there was justification to help our population through these crisis but it now means we are the most highly taxed individuals in more than 50 years.

Some would argue best socialist Government ever. So both the Conservatives, Labour and Liberals are all fishing in the same muddy waters for votes.
So Nigel could really exploit the Tories difficulties on not just the economy but also immigration both legal and illegal.
The Rwanda plan has some merits to act as a deterrent but the courts and left leaning lawyers have in my view scuppered it and it’s doomed.
So Nigel Farage standing as a leading Reform candidate would take extra votes from the Tories.
I as a critical friend to the Tories would suggest that all that would do is cement Labour's victory and add to Britain’s woes of more taxes more immigration and more economic crises.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
- ‘We were not cursing under our breath’: Labour MP claims Tory non-dom tax scrapping is ‘amusing’
- Commons fury as Labour MP accused of SWEARING at doorkeeper during vote
- Rwanda Bill: MPs swat down all 10 House of Lords amendments in major boost for Rishi Sunak

The default position of the British voter in my humble opinion is the centre. They will vote centre right and centre left, go too far to the right or left and you will lose votes.
You take the last election in 2019, on the door step there was good support for getting Brexit done and many liked Boris but some did not, so I would say to them how do you get on with Jeremy Corbyn? "Oh we don’t want him too dangerous for the country". So I would say I think I have persuaded who you should vote for.
My Conservative majority in Tiverton and Honiton was nearly 25,000 and there were many seats with bigger majorities.
But again there is a but. This was achieved by a complete split in the votes on the left in my old constituency. Labour came second, Lib Dems not far behind and a good vote for the Greens.
By the way I was told Greens are like a tomato they start off Green but they soon go Red.

So the point I am making is at the last election it was perfect for the Tories, get Brexit done totally split the opposition votes.
This election will be the mirror image after nearly 15 years of Conservative Government. Three leaders and economic slowdown, the left vote will consolidate around whichever party on the left will defeat the Tory candidate.
So I would argue even at this late hour, the Parliament voter on the right should support Rishi Sunak and the Tories rather than vote for any other party on the right which will allow Mr flip flop Starmer in to No10.
So I say to Nigel the choice is yours, I am a democrat and it is up to you.
